Portraits of Jesus from Hebrews – Part 1

bibleJesus Christ is an unfathomable treasure.  No words can fully express who he truly is.  However, the writer of Hebrews paints beautiful portraits of Jesus expressing so many facets of who he is, what he did, and what he continues to do for us.  Below are some of those portraits as expressed in “The Passion Translation” of Hebrews.

  • Jesus was appointed Heir of everything
  • Through Jesus all things were created
  • God speaks to us through the language of a son, Jesus Christ
  • Jesus is the dazzling radiance of God’s splendor
  • He is the exact expression of God’s true nature
  • Jesus holds the universe together and expands it by His word
  • He cleansed our sins
  • Jesus is seated on the highest throne at the right hand of God
  • He is infinitely greater than angels
  • He is the beloved Son of God
  • His throne endures forever
  • Jesus Christ rules with justice and righteousness
  • He will remain forever
  • Jesus is I Am
  • He never changes
  • There is nothing outside Jesus control
  • Jesus is crowned with glorious honor
  • Jesus experienced death’s bitterness on behalf of everyone
  • Jesus is the pioneer of our salvation made perfect through his sufferings
  • He became human to fully identify with us, his children
  • Jesus experienced death to annihilate the effects of the accuser who holds against us the power of death
